Janet Horne was the last person legally executed for witchcraft in the British Isles. The Witches Stone marks the place of her death in Dornoch, Scotland.
Although Janet died in 1727, the memorial is marked as 1722. Her daughter was also sentenced to death, but mysteriously escaped the execution, never to be seen again.
